Grows easily in average, average, well-drained, acidic soil in full sun to part shade. Best in partial shade. Prefers moist, organically rich, peaty soils with a pH below 6. Blooms on the previous year's growth, so any pruning should be done immediately after flowering. Small, bell-shaped, cupped flowers, creamy yellow to white-pink, with pink stripes and edges, appear in pendulous clusters in late spring (May-June). Fall color is variable, but at best is characterized by quality red foliage with tones of orange, yellow, and purple.
